JPE Project Details

Get Involved

2009 was primarily dedicated to the implementation of JPE’s operation throughout Jamaica National Money Transfer’s international branches. The project was launched in May in the USA, moved onto the UK in August, Canada in October and the Grand Cayman in November.

In the various branches customers are encouraged to make small but continuous donations to the JPE fund as often as they can afford. We believe every mikkle mek a mukkle!

Now you can make online donations right from your computer! We’ve set up a PayPal account for your convenience and ease. So if you don’t have time to make it down to your local Jamaica National Money Transfer branch, use our PayPal service to contribute any amount to the Jamaica Partnership for Education.

Distribution of funds

The JN Foundation believes that sustainable development requires input from all angles. So rather than tell Jamaica’s schools what we think they need, we prefer to ask them: “How can we help you?” Once a year, a theme for development in education is chosen and schools invited to submit proposals for funding.

As a commitment to fairness, an allocation committee is the final arbiter on fund distribution. However, funds are only allocated to schools after they have proven their need and ability to utilise these funds in a measurable and effective manner. Projects that have a self-sustaining component will be chosen over similar projects that do not. The number of projects funded is based on the amount of money collected within the collection period prior to the distribution of funds. The JPE is committed to transparency, sustainability, and the development of Jamaica’s education system.
