Introduction
Started at the Denbigh Agricultural Show in 2009, Post for Act!on is an initiative of the JN Foundation which seeks to gather ideas and knowledge from JN Members across the island who understand the needs of the communities in which they live. Post for Act!on days take place all over Jamaica, and JN Members are invited to write their suggestions for community projects on a Post for Act!on card and then pin on to the Wall of Action.
In 2009, the Ebeneezer Home for the Mentally Challenged received a grant to implement the expansion of the chicken house, establish a rabbit hutch and set up a goat and pig run, as well as cover the costs for minor landscaping on the premises the Home shares with the Mandeville Infirmary.
The 2010 project out of the Denbigh Post for Act!on day was the Hampshire Committee for Self Reliance, a small community-based organisation in the remote district of Hampshire in north east St. Catherine. The project was a chicken rearing project for the blind and sighted persons.
In 2011, the JN Moneyshops were brought into the MAC programme, and Members were able to submit their project ideas via Post for Act!on days at the JN Moneyshops.
