Hurricane Melissa Recovery Efforts in Jamaica

Everyone needs a helping hand in times of need.

Hurricane Melissa, October 2025

Hurricane Melissa, a powerful category five storm, is the worst storm in the country’s history. Many are comparing Hurricane Melissa to Hurricane Charlie (1951) and Hurricane Gilbert (1988), which were two of Jamaica’s most catastrophic hurricanes. Melissa has had an even more devastating impact than Charlie and Gilbert, with extensive damage on the western side of the island and several persons have lost their lives.

I Support Jamaica Fund for Hurricane Melissa

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

The JN Group has an established fund to facilitate donations to help Jamaicans most affected by disasters, such as Hurricane Melissa. We invite you to contribute and assist with providing immediate relief to rebuild the lives and businesses of the most vulnerable.

Beneficiaries will include the most vulnerable; children’s homes, early childhood institutions, homes for the elderly, healthcare facilities, as well as registered community groups operating in the worst affected areas.

Here’s how to donate:

Donate Emergency Supplies:

As a part of relief efforts, Jamaica National is collaborating with Food for the Poor to collect emergency supplies from persons in the UK for donation to vulnerable communities. These emergency items include non-perishable food items, tarpaulins, solar lantern or battery-powered lights, and personal hygiene products, such as diapers for adults and babies and menstrual products. To get more information about how to donate items, please email ISupportJamaica@janouk.com.

Please note that this is only for members in the UK.
