It’s time to ‘Get Smart About Credit!’

Here are some resources to help you on the road to financial freedom.

Below is information on the topics that will be discussed in the series of workshops:

Language of Loans

This session demystify jargons and terminologies often used to advertise loans and how they work. On completing this topic, participants should be better able to understand and make informed decisions when applying for a loan and signing loan agreements.

The Credit Bureau and You

This topic explores what goes into generating a credit report and consequently a credit rating how to rectify irregularities and maintain good credit standing.

Understanding Interest Rates

An expert will take you through the various types of interest rates and how they are calculated. The expectation is that participants should feel empowered to forecast true loan amounts, identify ideal loan periods and gauge the impact a loan will have on their finances.

Assessing Your Readiness for Credit

Participants will be taught the steps to take before approaching an institution for a loan, the questions to ask and the documentation necessary for loan processing. This topic will also cover building financial characteristics that are attractive and deemed worthy to consider for a loan.

Speakers

Rose Miller

Rose Miller joined the Jamaica National Building Society, now the JN Group, in November 2003. She now serves as Grants Manager and Financial Empowerment Project Manager at the JN Foundation fulfilling her a desire to help individuals empower themselves financially through education. Mrs Miller travels throughout Jamaica delivering training aimed at raising the level of financial education of Jamaicans, young and old.

Gillian Jackson

Gillian Jackson is the Senior Manager of Data and Analytics for The Jamaica National Group and has more than 17 years of experience working in the financial sector. She has a Masters in Actuarial Science and a Micro Masters in Data Science and professional experience in understanding financial instruments with special emphasis in data analytics that drives her passion for explaining complex ideas.
